This is the only Daiwa reel I own, and, while I only use it in rotation with my other rod/reel combos, I like it. Smooth, casts well, feels solid. However, although the body may be aluminum, other key parts are plastic. Recently, while casting (not catching), the plastic bail arm snapped. I've never had this happen before, even while catching a big red with a cheap Okuma. This bail arm piece should be metal. To give credit, Daiwa customer service was great when I called and they sent me a new bail arm for free. I immediately reinforced the bail arm with a brushed-on coat of good epoxy. We'll see how it holds up.
