I bought this reel in the 7:0:1 gear ratio, since I was looking for more of a high speed reel. I think that for the money that this is an excellent reel. I wish Quantum would have put magnetic braking on rather that friction, but it still works well. The reel handle also feels a little flimsy, but i haven't had any problem with it. The only reason I gave this reel 4 stars is because of the handle and the friction brakes. If you are looking for a beginners baitcasting reel, at a reasonable price, then give the Quantum kinetic a try.
