Max In-Wall PowerPro Surge Suppressor Review

I recently bought a 46" Samsung LCD and my wife wanted me to mount it to the wall and hide all the wires. I realized I would need to install an outlet behind the TV, but wasn't sure how to deal with the lack of power protection, as the TV was originally plugged into a power strip with built in surge protection. I searched the web and found this product. It installed very easily (you do have to buy a 2 gang box, which is readily available at Home Depot or Lowes for about $2). The installtion was very straight forward. I was able to tap an outlet directly below where I needed to install the Panamax outlet (fortunately there were no horizontal studs in the way) and was able to easily run the romex behind the wall from the existing outlet up to the new one. I did cut a small access hole behind the existing outlet (which happened to be inside a bedroom closet so patching it was no big deal). This gave me a place to push the romex into the back of the existing box. Wiring the Panamax outlet was very easy. Just use the supplied wire nuts and attach to the 3 wires in the romex wire and screw it into the box. My only real negative comment is that, while it is a recessed outlet, it is recessed a relatively small amount. I was able to plug my tv into it, but the plug does press against the tv a little bit. If you use a very low profile mount (maybe less than 1") you may not have enough room to plug in the TV. The solution would be to install a recessed box made by Arlington Industries (they don't sell directly to consumers, but you can search the web and find a distributor). All in all, I would highly recommend this product.
