Sherwood 200' Wrist Gauge, Imperial Review

I got this as a gift so that I could see how far I was freediving and not as a backup for scuba diving as many people use it. The gauge seemed to work consistently though I had no independent measure to check its accuracy. The dial is clear, attractive and easy to read. I had to laugh when I opened the package, though, because the picture online gives you no idea as to the dimensions. In the picture it looks like a slightly oversize watch but in reality it looks like a watch for the Jolly Green Giant. The description said that the face is 1 3/4" and I mistook this to mean that the diameter of the gauge area including the wrist mount was 1 3/4". In fact, including the housing the diameter is 2 1/2" and the strap is 14" long and an inch wide. Since all my freediving is in warm water and (so far) less than 60 feet where I don't need a wetsuit I took the gauge out of the rubber boot and put it in the pocket of my board shorts. There is a thin needle that is mechanically pushes the thicker needle clockwise which will therefore indicate the deepest depth you went on that dive so if that is all you are interested in you can keep it in your pocket and check the depth when you come up. There is a knob in the middle with which to reset the max depth indicator to zero. The strap appears to be good quality rubber and I would use it if I were wearing a wetsuit.
