My boy is 3 years old and already riding a pedal bike slightly bigger than this one. This is definitely the way to teach a child how to ride a bike. Ditch the training wheels. America has been abusing our kids for years trying to teach them how to ride a bike using training wheels. I taught him how to pedal using a trike which he still loves, and then transitioned him to riding a two wheeler with the y-bike and then this ZUM. It seems to be the best out there. It has real inflatable tires and a solid steel frame and very sturdy but light too. The only draw back is once he learned to balance he wants to ride his other two wheeled bike with pedals so he hasn't really ridden this all that much. It did its job, however which is to teach him how to ride a bike and we will pass it down to his little sister! They are both way ahead of the learning curve!
