When my roommate said he wanted a bike, he insisted on getting suspension forks since he wanted the option of going off-roading. Wanting to get rid of my 700C cyclcocross frame, I decided I would scour the Internet for a 700C fork (with suspension). When searching for "suspension fork" I would mostly get forks for mountain bikes which took 26' tires. A 700C suspension fork is apparently very rare but the SR Suntour CR9 came through. Other more name brand suspension forks were about 2 times the cost at the local bike shop and online. This seemed to be the only 700C suspension fork I could find that was within his budget and comes in black or silver.

Installation: I had to purchase a Park Tool Threadless Tool Saw Guide and a 24T Hack Saw in order to but the 1 1/8" steerer to size. Remember when cutting to use some oil or liquid lube to make cutting a lot easier and extends the life of the saw blade as well. Installation of the crown race was made possible by a Park Tool Crown Race Setting tool. After that, installation was a cinch. One thing to note is that these take Cantilever or V-Brakes are have only one hold for the spring to latch into.

Ride quality: It rides pretty well. Similar to other suspension forks, this Suntour CR9 has a quick release to essentially turn off and on the suspension. While riding on a road, you don't necessarily need all the suspension so you turn the dial to "Lock" and the suspension is stiff. When you're about to hit the off-roading, simply turn the dial to "Open" and you're ready to rock on.

Overall: not much to complain about, its a cheap usable fork that came quickly from Amazon.com that has a suspension. It's a bit on the heavy side but hey, it's a suspension fork and made for mountain bikes, weight is usually not taken into consideration until you get to the higher end.
