AccuShot 30-mm 1.5-6 x 44 IE Scope with 36-Color Glass Mil-Dot Reticle, MS Rings (Black) Review

I wanted a limited power scope with minimum mag at the lower end for my M1A. I just dropped a lot of cash into a mount so when I saw a used - like new one of these on Amazon, I grabbed it. I want to eventually buy a nicer one but for now I thought this might do the job. It does do the job but make sure you give it some thought before you think alike.

What I liked: Shape, durable - looks rugged, caps, big resettable target turrets with locks, mil reticle with a bewildering number of color options, along with different brightness levels on the standard green/red choices. The glass is pretty clear for a budget scope. The eye relief maxes at about 4 inches before you start getting a view of the inside of the scope. That's not bad.

What I didn't like: Scope is HUGE. Compared to the 3-9 Pentax I had on there, it is bigger. And heavier. All the electronic toys on there really adds up. On a heavy rifle like an M1A. don't be thinking you'll be able to hold your sights for very long without a stand or bench rest. It is NOT what I'd call a tactical scope when mounted on a heavy rifle. If you look around, it weight about 50% more than a similar less fancy 1-4X scope like the Mueller Speed Shot. Keep this in mind when looking at this piece of glass. You get a lot for the money but that includes the weight to go with it.

If you're plinking and want something simple with a plethora of reticle illumination options, this is a great scope. If you're looking for a small magnification tactical scope to be able to bring to the shoulder and sight fast, the weight of this scope makes it a non starter. I'll try and remember to post back once I start throwing lead down the pipe and see how this actually holds up under fire.

EDIT: I ended up getting rid of this scope pretty quickly. For 3 main reasons. 1.) It's just too heavy and unbalances my rifle. 2.) In lower light where the lighted reticle is supposed to be an advantage, the entire sight glas glows and 3.) the glass is not clear and becomes very noticeable in low light due to the glow. It does not function very well for the purpose it was designed. Instead, I purchased a BOSS scope with of all things, a turkey reticle. Much better in terms of weight, low light performance, and the thickness of the reticle lines. BSA 1.5-4.5X32mm BOSS Shotgun Scope with Turkey Reticle
