Fenwick HMG 10 Casting Rod (6-Feet, Medium) Review

This review is for the HMG six foot medium/moderate fast casting rod. It's a very high quality product with top notch components, in my experience good for fresh and salt water. I use it mainly for fishing 6-8 pound line with light hard bodies and small soft plastics primarily from my kayak. The HMG is very well suited to this kind of fishing, light enough with plenty of strength to handle the occasional very big bream and huge flathead. I am very surprised that such quality can be bought for such a reasonable price and I am delighted with it. If only Fenwick made a seven foot medium light power version, I would buy it in a flash. Something to be careful of: the reel seat is very fine, so reels with a beefy foot like the Abu 170i and Omega Pro spincasts do not tighten down fully and need some additional basal retention (like a zip tie or cut off short section of mountain bike grip). Do this or you will end up watching your reel flying off across the flats during a power cast.
